From Regional Hospice: 

"Hospice services are available to patients who have a terminal illness where the goal of treatment is pain management and symptom control.  Services are provided by a team of trained professionals – physicians, nurses, chaplains, social workers, aides, and volunteers – who provide medical care and support services.  Some medical equipment and medications related to the patients' terminal illness may also be supplied."
